Tooth Implants: What is the time frame to Get Them?

Tooth Implants are tiny, nimble inserts that are surgically placed beneath the gums in the jawbone. The majority of Tooth Implants are made of frames, screws, or blades. Once the Tooth Implantologist determines that the implant is solidly integrated with the jawbone, he she will mount new teeth, along with abutments, on the implants.

What are they and how do they work?

Tooth implants are constructed of biocompatible materials such as titanium and have very small pits and ridges. This allows the bone expand so tightly around the implant that it is able to stick to it, providing a stable base for artificial teeth. Bridges or fixed dentures which attach to implants can be fixed to the teeth and are stable in the mouth. This allows patients to be able to speak and eat comfortably.

To receive teeth implant treatment the patient must have healthy gums and a sufficient jawbone to support the implant. Additionally, they must also be in good overall health. Tooth Implant treatment is available to all people between the ages of 15 and 17 years of age. This is to allow the jawbone to grow fully.

Below are two of the most popular kinds of Tooth Implant systems usually advised by the majority of implant dentists:

  • Endosteal Implants These implants are placed directly into the jawbone after drilling the pilot hole. After a healing period of a few months the abutments and prosthetic teeth are loaded onto the implant.
  • Subperiosteal Tooth Implants: These implants comprise a frame made of metal which is placed on top of the jawbone, right below the gum tissue. The frame is fixed to the jawbone when the gums and bone are healed. Once healing is complete, artificial tooth posts are connected to the jawbone.

Downtime for Tooth Implant Treatments

Tooth Implants are more intricate than other traditional procedures for tooth restoration like dental bridges. The downtime can vary between patients. The following are some commonly used factors that could influence the time of treatment:

  • The density of the jawbone.
  • General physical state of the patient.
  • The whereabouts of the tooth that is missing within your mouth (front or rear).

The process of inserting Tooth Implants could not take a lot of time, but the period for preparation, healing and recuperation usually takes a few months. For an average patient, a rough time-table could look like this:

  • Planning: During this stage the Tooth Implantologist conducts a detailed evaluation of a patient’s oral health. The entire process takes about a month.
  • Insertion and care of the Implant. This stage could take between one and three days, depending on how many teeth are to be placed in the jaw. This process is the drilling of a tiny hole into the jawbone. The implant is put in place and is left to heal.
  • Healing: Depending on the patient’s overall health and healing abilities it could take between three to six months. The bone grows around the implants, and it bonds to the metallic.
  • Final reconstruction The process could take anywhere from one to three days depending on the amount of prosthetic teeth that require fitting. A good cosmetic dentist can guide you to choose the right type of Tooth Implants will be the most suitable for you.
