Tips to Success with Dental Implants

Tooth Implants (also known as dental implants) are artificial roots and teeth that are placed directly in the jaw by the periodontist. Tooth Implants can be great for those who are healthy however have lost teeth from many different causes. Implants look natural and feel almost exactly like “regular teeth” when you bite down or chew food.

Tooth Implants are durable if kept in good condition and under normal conditions. Because they connect to your bone and gums a periodontist will lead any dental Implant team. They deal with the gums. They will often give you an appointment and inform you where the implant will be. Based on the kind of implant you’d like to use, and, the state of your mouth currently, the periodontist will create an individual treatment strategy. This plan can be altered by many aspects. For example, will you be replacing one tooth, or several teeth?

A dental crown and implant can replace a single tooth. This procedure replaces not only the tooth but also its root. Additionally, it has a variety of advantages over the other options that look like natural tooth and it can be placed within the mouth without causing harm to neighboring teeth. The bone will usually be preserved since the Tooth Implant replaces both the tooth’s root and crown. In the long time one tooth replacement can be easier to maintain than a dental bridge, and, your gums won’t reced around the metal. Single Dental Implants are a great option.

A Bridge is often required when replacing multiple teeth, or even a complete mouthful. They replace natural and lost teeth and, in some cases, the roots. Implants that resemble screws are initially placed into your jaw. Then, they are left to heal. After a few months implants and bone will usually be bonded. After that, the abutments (small metal posts) are inserted to complete the foundation. The gums are then given several weeks to recover before the procedure continues. Finally bridges (or replacement teeth rows) will be designed specifically for you, and installed by your periodontist. They are attached to abutments.

After your Tooth Implant have been installed the recovery process begins. Healing and full recovery typically takes about 3-6 weeks – however, this will depend on the number and kind of Tooth Implants used in your procedure – the larger the implant, the more the healing process. To combat the pains of healing, you should be careful not to smoke cigarettes or drink through a straw. These two actions can affect blood flow to the area of the tooth and potentially cause dry socket. Ibuprofen can be helpful to decrease pain and swelling. Keep your implant sites clean and sterile with the mouthwash as well as excellent oral hygiene.
